Bringing Literature and SEL to Life Through Shadow Puppetry with Daniel Barash

  • Marlene Nathan Meyerson Auditorium 1606 Paseo De Peralto Santa Fe, NM (map)

In this workshop, participants first learn about shadow puppetry as an art form, including performance and puppet-making techniques. They then discuss the reasons why shadow puppetry is such an effective strategy when exploring Social Emotional Learning concepts. Finally, they combine shadow puppetry and Social Emotional Learning teaching objectives by learning to facilitate hands-on shadow puppetry experiences inspired by children’s literature that enhance SEL strategies in the classroom.
