Patrick Guetti

Bass Patrick Guetti has been racking up great reviews and collaborations with big-name colleagues since his time as a Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Singer in 2013 and 2014. In addition to singing in our chorus for most productions in those seasons, he performed as Leggatt in Oscar and The Assassin in Dr. Sun Yat-sen. After Santa Fe, he was engaged by the Filene Artist Program at Wolf Trap Opera and with the Ryan Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago.

Anne Midgette of The Washington Post praised him for his “warm and rich sound” and Henry Stewart of Opera News described his singing as “expressive,” “pliable,” and “ardent.”

Mr. Guetti is singing the role of Snug in this summer’s Glyndbourne Festival production of Sir Peter Hall’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He portrayed Osmin in Bayerische Staatsoper’s Abduction from the Seraglio in Munich in 2022 and 2023 and made his Metropolitan Opera debut as Sarastro in The Magic Flute in 2020. He also performed principal roles at the Dallas Opera, Opera Philadelphia, Stuttgart Opera, and the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofie in Valencia.

Patrick Guetti is based in Berlin, where he is a featured ensemble member of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. With that company, he has already sung the roles of Bottom in Midsummer Night’s Dream, Procida in a new production of Les Vêpres Siciliennes, and the King in Aida. His parts in the 2022/2023 season include the title role in Massenet’s Don Quichotte, Colline in La bohème, the Commendatore in Don Giovanni, Don Basilio in The Barber of Seville, Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, Gernone in Manon Lascaut, and Sciarrone in Tosca.

He has performed under the baton of some of the most respected conductors in the opera world. This includes Gustavo Dudamel, Donald Runnicles, James Gaffigan, and Sir Andrew Davis. His work has included collaborations with stage directors Julie Taymor, Robert Carsen, Sir David Pountney, and Francesca Zambello.

A native of Highland Park, New Jersey, Mr. Guetti studied musical theatre at Catholic University, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He also attended the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, where he performed in productions of Un ballo in maschera, Eugene Onegin, Barber of Seville, and Pellêas and Mêlisande. He is represented by Promethean Artists.
